Peñarronda is a wide, open beachbreak on the western Asturian coast, sitting at the edge of a large bay flanked by cliff-top parking. The sandy bottom produces shifting A-frame peaks that change position with each swell and tide cycle. The wave character is predominantly mellow and well-covered, with medium-paced walls that suit intermediate surfers building their repertoire of turns. Steep sections push occasional punchy moments but the beach rarely delivers true power. Wave lengths stay in the 0-50m range and close-outs are common across much of the beach when the swell angle is off or the tide pushes too high. The most reliable performance window is low to mid tide on the way out: a lefthander can set up off the rip in the eastern corner while the rest of the beach offers standard A-frame options. Higher tide turns most of the beach into short shorebreak until backwash shuts it down. Swell from the W-NW-N quadrant at 1-2.5m switches the spot on best.
