Bica is a right-hand point break sitting on the eastern edge of São Pedro do Estoril, running over a mixed uneven reef and sand bottom. The wave is notable above almost everything else for its length - rides can stretch 200-500m on a good day, making it one of the longer points on the Costa do Estoril. The character is slopey rather than hollow, with a welling, progressive face that suits a high-line trim rather than power surfing. It runs fastest through the upper sections and holds a rideable wall into the inside. Low tide is the target window, ideally on the drop, when the reef configuration best focuses the swell energy. A solid SW swell is the sweet spot; a big NW can also wrap enough energy around the point to get it going. The break is one of the more consistent options on this stretch of coast, though locals and visiting surfers alike note a persistent gap between how good it looks from the cliff road and how it actually delivers - flat spots and sections are common. Crowds gather regularly given the long, accessible rides and proximity to Lisbon. The immediate neighbours Azarujinha and Bafureira offer alternatives when Bica is packed or underperforming. Parking is available roadside along the N6 above the beach.
