Santo Amaro is a popular urban beach break near Lisbon with consistent, fun waves.
Santo Amaro is a well-known beach break just west of Lisbon, offering reliable surf throughout most of the year. The spot features multiple peaks, making it accessible for various skill levels, but it can get crowded, especially on weekends. Waves are predominantly mellow to punchy, with the best conditions on a rising or high tide and moderate NW swells. The sandy bottom makes it safer than other Lisbon-area reefs, but submerged rocks can appear at lower tides. Facilities are excellent, with easy access, nearby parking, and a lively local surf scene.
Multiple peaks scatter across Santo Amaro's sand, shifting with each swell's appetite.
