Bafureira.

Bafureira is a reef peak sitting in the middle of the São Pedro do Estoril cluster, sandwiched between the long Bica right to the west and the sheltered Esquerda da Bafureira left to the east. The wave breaks over uneven reef and produces both lefts and rights with a steeper, punchier character than its immediate neighbours. The right is the standout direction, while the left carries more rock hazard through the inside section. SW swell is the primary driver, with the window spanning S through NW; the spot handles less raw size than nearby Bica but compensates with noticeably more power in the face. The wave runs at medium speed with a steep entry, welling up off the reef rather than wrapping around a point. Rideable from mid tide down to low, though rocks begin to show as the water recedes and rides truncate accordingly - outgoing tide is the sweet spot. Entry is directly off the rocks with no meaningful channel, so timing the sets matters. Crowd pressure is regular, and a territorial local contingent means respect in the lineup is non-negotiable. Water quality along this stretch is affected by local residential and commercial discharge, particularly after rain.
