Praia de Altura is the mapped surf break on the long sandy Praia da Alagoa/Altura beach. It is an exposed, unreliable beachbreak with peaks breaking both left and right. Southeast swell and north-northwest offshore wind provide the most favorable setup. The break is best around mid tide while the tide is falling. Summer is particularly flat, and August is too small for most surfers much of the time.
