Surf spot guide Β· Algarve, Portugal
A highly conditional shifting-sand beach break with lefts, rights and occasional hollow, fast waves.
Manta Rota is a shifting-sand beach break with peaks that break both left and right. The wave is generally small and gentle, but favorable south swells can produce hollow, fast and powerful sections. Typical rides range from 50 to 150 metres, with occasional longer waves. It is most reliable on low to rising tides and remains sheltered from the dominant northwest swell. Softer inside sections can suit beginners, while stronger conditions offer options for more experienced surfers.
