Surf spot guide Β· Algarve, Portugal
Fast, hollow rocky reef producing powerful lefts and rights near Caramujeira.
Pirata, also called Ponta do Levante, is a rocky reef break with sand among the rocks. It produces both lefts and rights, starting hollow and becoming fast and powerful. Rides are usually shorter than 50 metres, extending to roughly 50-150 metres on good days. The break works with Southwest, South and Southeast swells, while summer surf is generally manageable and winter conditions can become too large. It is principally a bodyboarding wave but can be surfed by experienced surfers.
