Alvor is a reasonably exposed beach break on the long sandy Praia do Alvor Poente. The wave offers both lefts and rights, with local windswells common and occasional groundswell. Southwest swell is preferred, while north winds provide offshore conditions. High tide is favored, and winter is the best season for surfing. Strong rips require caution, although the beach is usually uncrowded when surfable.
