Boca do Rio is a small, narrow beach break at the mouth of three streams. Sand overlies cobbles, boulders, and sections of shore platform, giving the wave an ordinary-to-ledgy character. Both lefts and rights break, with rides typically ranging from 50 to 150 metres. It faces southeast but can receive southwest swell, and it generally works around mid-to-high tide. The beach has no lifeguards, though it is regularly monitored by the maritime authority.
