Sky Williams.

Sky Williams is a left-hand point break that wraps around a fringing reef shelf south of Opunake on Taranaki's Surf Highway. The wave's personality is dictated by swell direction: a south swell produces a drawn-out, trimming wall that runs 200-500 metres through the cove, while a westerly swell compresses the energy into a shorter, punchier ride that occasionally throws a proper barrel. Either way, the wave is tide-sensitive - too much water flattens the bottom contours and the break loses its shape entirely, making low tide the only viable window. Entry is easier than neighbouring Mangahume, but don't mistake that for a soft option: the reef is uneven and shallow, boils surface unpredictably through the lineup, and the rocks are genuinely unforgiving. Crowds are rare given the access and the fickle conditions, but those who do paddle out tend to know what they're doing. Sharks and rips are active hazards along this stretch of coast. Best surfed in the 0.6-3m range when swell has southwest in it.
