Fin Fucker.

Fin Fucker sits on the stretch of Taranaki coast heading out toward the Cape Egmont lighthouse, the most westerly point of the North Island. The wave is a left-hander that breaks over boulders, producing chunky walls and genuine power at size - while it may not be the best shaped left along this coast, it's frequently the biggest, catching swell that other spots in the area miss. SW to NW swells in the 2 to 2.4m range are ideal, with easterly winds grooming the face. Mid to high tide on an incoming push covers the boulders enough to produce workable walls rather than a ledging close-out. Crowds are genuinely rare - the combination of remote access and a name that doesn't exactly advertise itself keeps most surfers away. More left-hand options exist further out toward the lighthouse for those willing to explore. Sharks are present along this exposed stretch and submerged boulders are a constant throughout the lineup. The quality is rated excellent when the power and the shape align on a solid day.
