Crushers.

Crushers is a stretch of rocky beachbreak peaks along the road heading out to Cape Egmont on the Taranaki coast. The waves break over a mix of boulders and sand, producing punchy A-frame peaks that can get hollow at size. The exposure is total - the spot faces directly into the prevailing swell window and catches everything from SW through N, making it one of the more consistent options along this stretch. Easterly winds are offshore and essential for clean conditions. Mid to high tide on an incoming push is the target, covering the boulders enough to allow clean entries and exits. Wave size ranges from 2 to 2.4m with rides of 50 to 100 metres. The setting is stark and beautiful - open road, layby parking, and nothing but coast in both directions. Crowds are rare, and the atmosphere is entirely casual. Rip currents are present and sharks patrol this stretch of the Tasman coastline. A solid, unpretentious wave that delivers honest surf without the crowd pressure of the more famous Taranaki points.
