Stent Road stands as New Zealand's premier right-hand point break, a world-class wave that draws comparisons to Raglan's celebrated left but serves up the opposite hand with arguably greater intensity. Situated on a boulder-strewn coastal protrusion near Warea on the Surf Highway 45 corridor, the wave peels with extraordinary consistency and length - rides of 200 to 500 metres are common when the swell cooperates. The break activates on any tide, though outgoing conditions tend to sharpen the sections and expose the boulders in ways that accelerate speed and define the barrel. Swell windows span SW through N, with southwest groundswell producing the most organised and powerful lines. An easterly wind is ideal, keeping faces clean as the wave wraps around the point. From small and playful to double-overhead and beyond - the break handles up to 3.7m without losing its character. The wave is hollow and steep through the critical takeoff zone, transitioning into fast open-face sections before pitching into legitimate barrel opportunities further down the point. Bowly, wrapping energy characterises the mid-sections, and boils over submerged boulders add an unpredictable technical dimension. The local crew is strong, tight-knit, and uncompromising - respect is non-negotiable. Crowds are a near-permanent fixture given the spot's reputation, and visiting surfers must read the lineup hierarchy carefully.
