A right-breaking wall tucked deep in the navigation channel between Simeulue and Pulau Batu Belahir. Mangroves sits over uneven reef and sand, producing steep, walling rides in the 0.6-2.4m range with medium speed and room for performance turns. The wave rarely breaks, requiring genuinely large S to SW swells to push enough energy into this sheltered position. When the rest of Simeulue is maxed out, Mangroves lights up as a forgiving alternative with fun, workable faces. Incoming tide cleans up the shape, though it handles all tidal stages. Best surfed from a boat since the surrounding shoreline is swampy mangrove forest with no clean land entry. The channel setting keeps it protected from most wind, and NW breezes groom the face. Crowd pressure is moderate only because the wave so seldom turns on. When it does fire, the limited window draws whoever is nearby, so expect company despite the remote setting.
