Mawun.

Mawun (sometimes written Mawan) is a horseshoe bay of white sand and turquoise water about 20 minutes west of Kuta on Lombok's south coast, better known for swimming than surfing, which keeps its lineup one of the quietest in the area. The main wave is a point-style right that wraps around the reef at the edge of the bay and peels for long, fast performance walls rather than barrels, holding swell from around waist high up to a couple of feet overhead. Across the bay a lesser left corner breaks with some shelter from the hills when the trades blow side-on. The bay picks up south swell consistently, but it is exposed to the dry season trade winds, so it needs early glass or the north to northwest winds of the wet season (October to April) to line up cleanly. Mid to high tide is the safer window, as the reef turns sharp and shallow at low. Rip currents appear when the swell picks up, and a punchy shore break lands near the middle of the beach where most visitors swim. Facilities are limited to parking, a few warungs and umbrella rentals, so bring what you need.
