Inside Gerupuk.

Inside Gerupuk (Inside Right, sometimes spelled Grupuk) is one of Lombok’s most popular surf spots due to its consistency and friendly wave. It’s a soft, long right-hand wave breaking over a seagrass-covered reef, which makes wipeouts more forgiving. This break is surfable on any tide (even low tide, thanks to the padded reef) and handles almost any swell size, from tiny to well overhead, without closing out. Inside Gerupuk is well-protected from wind by surrounding hills, so it often remains clean when other spots get blown out. On bigger swells, the wave gains some power and can even barrel in sections, but overall it’s a gentle ride perfect for practicing turns and long rides. The downside is the crowd: because it’s accessible and fun, Inside Gerupuk is frequently packed with beginners, surf schools, and intermediates. The spot is located in Gerupuk Bay about 7 km east of Kuta Lombok and is only accessible by boat from Gerupuk Village. Surfers should exercise caution around the reef, especially at low tide, and be mindful of boat traffic in the area.
