Ekas Outside is a powerful left-hand reef break beneath cliffs in southern Lombok, offering long, hollow barrels ideal for advanced surfers.
Ekas Outside sits at the eastern end of Ekas Bay on the southeastern coast of Lombok, offering long, fast, and steep hollow lefts that break over a shallow coral reef at the base of dramatic cliffs. These waves can run for up to 300 meters and are heavier and more powerful than those at nearby Ekas Inside, making the spot best suited for intermediate and advanced surfers. The wave is consistent from April to October, working best with solid southwest, south, or southeast swells and moderate offshore winds from the northeast to southeast. Access requires a boat from Awang village or nearby accommodations, and the area remains remote and undeveloped, providing a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The lineup is usually less crowded than more popular Lombok spots but can get busy during peak season. Hazards include sharp coral, strong currents, shifting tides, and powerful waves, so caution is advised.

Relaxed and friendly atmosphere
The wave breaks at the base of a cliff face, so there is no beach to wash in to; the usual approach is a boat from Awang harbour across the bay.
The combination to wait for is a south-southwest swell with an east offshore wind, and August is the most reliable month for it.
Too much west in the swell makes it bump and crumble.
It wants a mid to high tide on the push rather than a full high.
