Remote Costa del Balsamo rivermouth that fires long, snappy rights and short hollow lefts off a boulder point.
Mizata runs like a long righthand point wrapping down a boulder and sand bottom at the western edge of the Costa del Balsamo, with shorter hollow lefts peeling off the same peak when the swell lines up. The rivermouth opens regularly and flushes fresh sediment through the lineup, keeping the cobbles packed and the banks defined. The wave is steep and fast off the takeoff, offering barrel sections and performance walls over a 200-500m ride on the right. Any south through southwest swell will produce something rideable, and the spot stays consistent when Punta Roca and the east side go flat. It earns its reputation as the remote alternative to La Libertad, sitting an hour west of the crowds with the Mizata Point Resort overlooking the lineup from the bluff. Access is via a car park above the break on private resort land, so surfers stick to the beach path. The wave handles size up to around double-overhead before cliffside currents and backwash make it untenable.
