Los Cóbanos.

Los Cóbanos breaks across a mix of uneven reef and sand on a west-facing stretch just east of the port town of Acajutla, producing mellow, slopey peaks with medium-speed walls in the 1-2.5m range. The area sits on the largest coral and volcanic reef system on the Pacific side of Central America, which flattens most swells and keeps the inshore zone calm, so surfable waves only show up when a solid southwest to west pulse wraps into the bay. A decent left peels off Punta Negra in front of the white silos, though getting into that peak cleanly is tricky without hiring a local fishing panga. The wave window is wide across the tides but the bank and reef fingers work best on the push. The village itself is a quiet fishing and dive hub rather than a surf town, which keeps the lineup uncrowded outside of flat spells on the south coast. Northeast offshores clean it up, and nearby Salinitas or Mizata usually offer a better wave when the forecast is marginal.
