K59 is a right-hand point that wraps over a cobble and boulder bottom, warping across an inside section that rewards experts with a racetrack wall while still handing intermediates a shoulder to lean on when the sets widen out. The wave takes its name from the kilometer-59 marker on the coastal highway and sits in the heart of Costa del Balsamo, the rights-dominated stretch west of La Libertad that also hosts Sunzal, El Zonte and K61 within a short drive. It fires on S through W groundswells with a northerly offshore and can hold size well into the overhead range, with an easy paddle-out straight off the cobble beach when smaller. Entry is the catch: the break sits inside a private gated community, so visitors either pay for day access or stay at the surf camp that gave the wave much of its international profile. Urchins crust the boulders, and what was once a quiet alternative to the main La Libertad points has grown steadily busier as surfers drive out hoping for emptier lineups.
