La Paz.

La Paz is the inside, end-of-point section of the Punta Roca setup, a right-hander that picks up where the main peak fades and reels toward the La Libertad town beach. The wave breaks over an uneven reef and sand bottom with cobblestones through the takeoff, producing a less critical, fatter ride than the walled-up sections further up the point. On bigger S through W swells it can still stand up and occasionally keg, but it is best known as the mellower alternative for longboarders, intermediates and bodyboarders who want length without the pressure of the outside lineup. Paddle-out is straightforward off the town beach, which also makes La Paz the common route for surfers working their way up the point toward the main peak. Crowds are steady on any solid swell, swelling further when Punta Roca maxes out and paddlers slide down to the inside. Low to mid tide on a NW offshore is the window that lines the section up cleanly.
