Soft, backwashy jetty peak in Avon-by-the-Sea that needs an E or SE swell and lower tides to come together.
L' Jetty sits at the L-shaped rock groyne fronting Sylvan Lake outflow in Avon-by-the-Sea, one in the dense chain of New Jersey jetty breaks between Bradley Beach and Belmar. The wave is a soft, crumbly sand-bottom peak that fires mostly as a right off the inside corner of the jetty when an E or SE swell reaches head high or bigger. Faces are slow, prone to backwash and flat sections as the swell drains around the structure on outgoing tide, so timing the takeoff matters more than power. Lower tides shape the bank, anything above mid sees the wedge soften and the rip strengthen along the rock wall. The cove is lifeguarded and blackballed to surfers between 10am and 5pm through summer, pushing sessions to dawn and dusk. Park roadside on Ocean Avenue and walk in over the sand. Belmar Fishing Pier sits 200m south at the Shark River Inlet for more punch, Bradley Beach jetties run north for cleaner banks.

Roadside parking on Ocean Avenue with a short walk over the sand into the lifeguarded cove. No dedicated car park, restrooms, showers, surf school or surf shop logged at the break. Surfing is blackballed inside the guarded cove from 10am to 5pm through summer.
