Madiha Left is a fast, hollow left with lip and barrel sections, best for experienced surfers. The take-off drops straight into a point-and-shoot wall, and the wave can be shallow at low or high tide, so timing is important. Small swells won’t work, and it won’t handle very large waves beyond its natural line. The reef is not too sharp and has kelp, making duck-diving slightly easier, but the close-out end should be avoided. It can get crowded, but it remains a challenging wave that rewards skilled surfers willing to navigate the reef and rock pools to reach the lineup. Lineup Positioning: It’s a very prominent wave, as close to a wave in Indonesia that you will find in Sri Lanka so positioning is quite obvious, just don’t sit too deep. Wave Targeting: Anything that comes you rway. Tips & Progression Focus: If you want your first barrel, sit deep and commit to it. There’s a keyhole to paddle out and in of the wave, watch other people do that before getting in there.
