Mirissa Beach is a scenic, curved bay with a small island at the western end. The right point near the headland is very fickle and works mainly on bigger south swells, while a rolling left can form in front of the island. The waves are often soft and reforming, making rides tricky to link together. The reef can be sharp, especially at low tide, so beginners should stick to the sandier sections and improvers need to watch their step. The spot is quiet most days but can get busier when conditions line up, and it’s somewhat protected from SW-W winds.
