Playa Vega is a long sand-bottom beachbreak on the Asturian coast of northern Spain, oriented NNW to catch nearly every available Atlantic swell. Multiple peaks spread across the beach, offering lefts and rights that typically run 50 to 100 metres before closing out. The wave is steep and medium-paced rather than hollow, with a vertical takeoff character and occasional barrelling sections when the swell is organised. Its NNW exposure makes it more consistent than many neighbouring spots, and it holds the summer NE trades better than most beaches in the area, staying surfable when spots to the west go blown out. Best conditions arrive on a W to NW groundswell with a southerly wind, ideally from 0.6m to 2.5m. The beach works across all tides, though the outgoing tide can produce slightly tighter sections on the better sandbars. Outside summer the beach stays quiet, with parking free and hassle-free alongside good facilities including showers, restrooms, lifeguard cover and a campsite near the village.
