Pinhal is a sandy left-hand beach break near Mindelo, also known as Praia do Pinhal dos Eléctricos or Praia Nova. The wave is fast and usually short, with rides under 50 metres, though good days can produce 50-150-metre sections. It generally needs 1.5-2 metres of swell and can hold 3 metres or more. The spot is considered suitable for beginners but breaks only occasionally and is rarely working. Low to mid tide, especially on a rising tide, is preferred.
