Hollow, fast right-hander barrelling off shallow reef beside a small offshore island, coloured by a polluted stream.
Miramar is a right-hand reef break that fires off the shallow, uneven reef flanking a small island sitting just offshore. When it works, the wave is hollow and fast - bowly sections jack up quickly over the boil-marked reef and run for 100-200m before the inside shuts down. The break needs solid NW swell to wrap around the island geometry and produce its best shape, with mid-range tides (rising or falling) keeping the reef covered enough to avoid the worst of the exposed sections. SW to NW swells in the 0.6-3.6m range bring out the character of this wave; bigger NW pulses can push it into proper barrel territory. A stream outfall delivers visibly tinted water directly into the lineup and is the most effective natural crowd filter on this stretch of coast - numbers thin noticeably when the discolouration is strong. The spot carries a moderate local crew who know the reef well. Nearby Espinho to the south and Granja just below offer alternatives when Miramar's stream situation makes the water unappealing, and both break in overlapping swell windows.
