Cavalos de Fão is an exposed reef break with rocky reef and some sand. It produces short, fast, hollow rights and lefts, with rides generally under 50 metres. The break handles NW swell and easterly offshore winds, working through all tide stages. Winter, especially December, offers the most reliable clean surf, while the lineup is typically uncrowded.
