Waves run 50-100m and carry enough punch to reward surfers looking for something more than a gentle roll, though the beach's generally forgiving nature makes it approachable for improvers too. An easterly wind - blowing offshore here - is the classic condition to chase. The broader stretch of coast it sits within remains largely undeveloped and uncrowded by Portuguese standards, and São Pedro do Moel is the most recognised name along it. Rip currents are the main hazard to read before paddling out, particularly as swell size builds toward the upper range.
