Cova Gala is a short, regular sandy beach break with lefts and rights generally under 50 metres. The wave is usually ordinary to fun, but can handle conditions from below one metre to around three metres or more. Coastal groynes segment the beach and calm the sea while sheltering it from wind. The beach is used for surf and bodyboard competitions and suits a broad range of surfers when conditions are manageable.

Quiet and low-key
Check the tide before paddling out, as the beach is favoured around mid to high tide.
Watch offshore boat activity before crossing beyond the break.
Give the groynes a wide berth when entering, exiting, or changing peaks.
Use the boardwalk and stairs through the dunes for beach access.
Expect lighter crowds on weekdays than at weekends.
