Praia da Tocha is an exposed Atlantic beach break over sand, producing both lefts and rights from A-frame peaks. West swell is the strongest setup, with east-southeast offshore winds. The break works across low, rising, high and falling tides and can be surfed year-round. Winter, particularly December, offers the most consistently clean conditions. Skill levels range from beginner in suitable conditions to intermediate, but rips, undertow and powerful winter surf require caution.
