Malhão is a long, exposed beach break on Portugal's Vicentine Coast, sitting within a protected natural park north of Vila Nova de Milfontes. The sandy bottom produces A-frame peaks scattered along the beach, with steep, fast walls that generate lefts and rights in the 0.6-2.4m range. Several large rock formations interrupt the shoreline and help anchor shifting sandbars, giving the break more definition than a typical featureless beach. It fires best on SW swells with a light easterly keeping the faces clean, and remains functional across all tidal stages, making it one of the most reliably surfable spots in the Alentejo. The Stormrider description of it as the most consistent wave in the area is borne out by a reasonable swell window and an all-tide window that few nearby spots can match. Paddle out is straightforward from the beach with no technical rock entries required. Crowd levels sit in the moderate range - busy enough on summer weekends to feel competitive at the best peaks, but the length of the beach means alternatives are usually within paddling distance. A surf school operates nearby, which can bring inexperienced surfers into the line-up. Cogumelo and Porto Covo offer different wave characters for surfers looking for variety along this stretch of coast.
