On a quality S to SW swell the wave morphs into a world-class righthand pointbreak that charges through a small bay with real menace. Expect hollow, top-to-bottom barrels with thick lips unloading over a shallow boulder bank, with rides stretching between 50 and 100 metres on the better sets. A secondary left breaks on the opposite side of the bay but is considerably less impressive. The swell window is focused: SE through SW works, with due S the sweet spot. Northerly winds groom the face cleanly. Tide is critical - low to mid incoming is the target zone. As the tide pushes higher the shorebreak intensifies and the gnashing boulder action becomes genuinely dangerous, shutting the spot down. Wave faces range from 4 to 3.7m. When conditions align the quality is among the best in the country. This is heavy water. Critical takeoffs, fast sections, and shallow boulders throughout demand experience and commitment.
