The wave is a fast, hollow left-hander that peels down a boulder-lined point in most swell directions, making it one of the more versatile options on this stretch of East Cape coast. Best on a mid-sized NE to E swell at low to mid incoming tide, with westerly winds grooming the face. Rides stretch 100 to 200 metres, with the boulder bottom providing enough structure for the wave to hold shape through multiple sections. The main complications are access and attitude: reaching the break requires crossing private property, which can be tricky, and localism has been known to be an issue. Don't arrive with a big group. Submerged boulders throughout the lineup demand awareness. The quality is rated excellent when conditions align, making it a genuine fall-back option for experienced surfers exploring the wider Mahia area.
