Mahunga Point.

Mahunga Point sees a high-tide left crumble off the boulder reef at the northern end of the beach, producing long, manageable rides for intermediate surfers and above. The wave prefers more water over the reef and a decent amount of E in the swell to wrap around the point. The broken-up nature of the reef spreads multiple peaks across the lineup, naturally dispersing the small crowd that gathers. Westerly winds hold the face clean. Size ranges from 2 to 1.8m with rides of 100 to 200 metres on a good run. The spot is beginner-accessible on smaller days, with the crumbling wave providing a forgiving platform for developing surfers. No rips, sharks, or localism flagged - submerged boulders are the only significant hazard. This is a relaxed, uncrowded option on the northern Mahia coast.
