Tea Bags.

A serious right-hander breaking over shallow live coral on the fringing reef of Pulau Tapah, a small island off Simeulue's west coast near Busung Bay. When swell direction locks in around 220-230 degrees, Tea Bags produces textbook barrels that peel with freight-train speed down the reef shelf. The wave is thick, wrapping into the reef from deep water before pitching over super-shallow coral. Takeoffs are critical, the face jacks quickly, and the barrel moves faster than most surfers can trim. If the swell swings too far south, the wave becomes essentially unmakeable, though a few committed chargers still attempt it. The spot earned its name from surfers getting burned trying to squeeze every last second out of the tube. It is a genuine high-consequence wave where wipeouts mean contact with live coral at speed. The reef is exposed enough to produce boils on the face. Access requires a boat from the south end of Pantai Busung or the harbour behind One Pine, roughly a 10km ride out. The neighbouring island of Mincau offers pristine beaches and a mellower wave as a lower-stakes alternative. Crowds are thin given the boat-only access and the sheer difficulty of the wave, so lineups rarely feature more than a handful of surfers from nearby charter boats or camps.
