Fun, accessible righthander offering some of the easiest barrel rides in Indonesia over dead coral reef.
A right-breaking reef pass that peels over dead coral on Simeulue's south coast near Busung. The wave alternates between hollow barrel sections and open turning faces across a 100m-plus ride, making it one of the more forgiving tube-riding waves in Indonesia. Shallow enough to produce boils and bowly sections, but rarely ledging or dry, so intermediates can push into the barrel without facing the consequence of heavier Indo reefs. Needs SSW to SW swell direction to light up properly, as anything south of 200 degrees passes the reef entirely. On smaller swells it still breaks but with long waits between sets. Also known as D-lands or Rambo Rights, the paddle-out goes through a keyhole channel in sharp raised reef, marked by a stick with cans tied to it. With 14 surf camps clustered nearby and a growing crew of local surfers, the lineup fills quickly when conditions align. Expect company on any solid swell, particularly from the camp boats that run guests to the peak.
