Rifles is famed for its long, fast, and hollow right-hand barrels, often regarded as one of the best in Indonesia and even the world when conditions align. The wave reels over a sharp, shallow reef, offering ultra-long rides that can extend for hundreds of meters, making it highly sought after by advanced surfers for its speed, power, and potential for extremely long barrels. Rifles is highly sensitive to swell direction and wind conditions, requiring precise setups to perform at its best. Access is typically by boat, followed by a straightforward paddle to the lineup. Due to the wave's speed and the hazardous reef, it is not suitable for beginners, and crowds can be significant during peak season.

Rifles breaks off the eastern edge of Pulau Karangmajat, on the opposite side of the island from Kandui Left, so the two waves want opposite winds.
It wants a solid overhead south swell under 200 degrees; a more southwest angle goes to Kandui Left instead.
Surf it from mid to high tide on the push, which is what both the resort on the wave and the local guides recommend.
