Pitstops is a fun, rippable right-hander located just off the beach in front of several surf camps in the Mentawai Islands' Playgrounds region. The wave breaks over a relatively forgiving coral reef, making it popular with beginners and intermediate surfers thanks to its approachable, predictable takeoff zone. It works best on smaller to medium swells, offering long, smooth walls perfect for turns and occasional quick barrel sections on the best days. Crowds can build up due to its accessibility and user-friendly nature. The spot is best surfed at mid to high tide to avoid the shallow, exposed reef, with entry and exit being straightforward at higher tides but requiring caution when tides are low. Access is typically by boat, but it's also a short paddle from shore accommodations.
