E-bay is a world-class left reef break in the Mentawai Islands featuring hollow, fast barrels and stunning scenery.
E-bay, located on Masokut Island in the Playgrounds area of the Mentawai Islands, is famed for its fast, hollow lefts over a sharp coral reef. The wave barrels powerfully from the take-off, which features a heavy warble and can be challenging, making it best suited for experienced surfers. While the wave is consistent across all tides, mid tides are often preferred to avoid exposed reef sections. The inside section is shallow with two rocks posing hazards, and strong currents can push surfers onto the reef, demanding confident skills. Access is only possible by boat, and although crowds are common during peak season, the spot is usually uncrowded, offering stunning surrounding scenery. Respect for local etiquette is important, especially when the lineup gets busier. The wave handles south to southwest swells with light northeast winds, and consistency is high during the dry season, attracting intermediate and advanced surfers from around the globe.

This wave needs a bit of west in the swell and it needs size: overhead and above is when it turns on, which is why it sits idle while its neighbours work.
