Shipwrecks is the most famous surf spot on Nusa Lembongan, located on the northernmost reef in the bay. It offers a quality right-hander with the potential for big barrels on takeoff and a fast, rippable wall that peels for about 80 meters into a well-defined channel. The wave is highly tide sensitive, performing best from mid to high tide, and can range in size from waist high to double overhead. Access is typically by a long paddle from the beach, requiring careful navigation through seaweed farms, or by surf ferry. Hazards include sharp, shallow coral, remnants of the shipwreck itself, strong currents especially on outgoing tides, and crowded lineups during peak times. Shipwrecks suits intermediate surfers at smaller sizes and advanced surfers when the swell is overhead, but it is not recommended for beginners due to the challenging conditions.
