Surf spot guide · Bali, Indonesia
Advisory
Powerful surf conditions with energy levels reaching 2132 kJ. Peak energy around 6:00 AM.
High energy swells create dangerous conditions even at moderate wave heights. Strong currents and powerful waves expected. Warning valid until 9:00 PM.
Padang Bai is an east-facing reef break beside Bali’s ferry port and fishing village. It can produce punchy, occasionally hollow right-hand waves when southeast swells wrap into the bay. The reef generally favors incoming to high tides, which provide more water over the shallow sections. Wave quality depends heavily on swell size, with smaller conditions more manageable for confident intermediates. Ferry traffic, boats, exposed reef, and changing currents require careful timing and awareness.

Buitan is a consistent, uncrowded reef break on East Bali's coast with fun left and right waves over a rocky bottom, suitable for intermediates and up.
