Les Conches/Bud Bud.

Les Conches and Bud-Bud form a continuous stretch of sandbank-driven beachbreak along the Longeville coast in Vendée, producing waves that share the hollow, powerful character associated with the Landes beaches further south. The break is entirely sand-dependent, meaning performance shifts with sandbank formation - when banks are right, peaks deliver steep takeoffs, punchy walls and genuine tube sections. Les Conches, closest to the main access point, tends to offer more forgiving walls with usable length, making it accessible for intermediates working on progression. A walk south toward Bud-Bud rewards with progressively shallower bars and meaner, hollower peaks that amplify with size - overhead-plus swells expose the difference clearly. At higher tides, walls can taper through channels, extending ride length across the sandbars. The entire zone responds to solid SW through NW swells, with NE winds providing the offshore conditions needed to hold the face clean. La Terrière, further south still, draws surfers looking to escape the concentration of crowds that descend on the northern end through summer. The beach is exposed and open-ocean facing, meaning swell rarely wraps or loses power before hitting the banks.
