North of Hikkaduwa, the beaches are long and less consistent, and usually quiet for surfing. Around Bentota, you’ll find a few A-frame beach breaks, with smaller, sheltered waves near the rocks that suit beginners, and slightly bigger peaks further down the beach. Conditions are sensitive to onshore winds. The area is more touristy than surf-focused, with several surf schools and plenty of other water activities nearby.
