Surf spot guide · Southwest Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka
A quiet reef left at Kogalla, fun for intermediates when the swell is on.
High Waves
Large waves up to 2.2m expected at Koggala. Peak conditions around 9:00 PM.
Exercise extreme caution when entering the water. Strong currents and large waves present. Warning valid until 9:00 PM.
In front of Kogalla’s playground, a small left over the reef can give intermediates a fun challenge when the swell hits. Rides can stretch up to 250 m, with a few smaller peaks nearby that usually stay quiet. The beachbreak is heavy and better for experienced bodyboarders when it barrels. Watch out for rips and sea urchins. Most surfers skip this spot on bigger days, keeping the left mostly empty.
Shallow reef left where 250 metres of ride stretches past the urchins.
