Shallow uneven-reef peak south of Punta de Mujeres village, hollow both ways and fiercely guarded by locals.
Punta de Mujeres breaks over an uneven lava-reef bottom just south of the fishing village of the same name on Lanzarote's exposed north-east coast. The peak throws a sharp, hollow right and an equally hollow left off a critical, near-vertical take-off, with bowly sections and the occasional boil giving away the rocky fingers underneath. The wave is shallowest through the take-off and only smooths out as the tide pushes in, so the usable window is mid through high. It feeds on N groundswells and E windswells funnelling along the cliff line, and a westerly offshore grooms the faces clean. The break is one of the more respected reefs on this side of the island, sitting in the same stretch of coast as Jameos del Agua and Arrieta but holding a tighter, heavier shape than either. Access is on foot from the village, with free roadside parking and a short walk down to the rock edge.
