Playa De La Garita.

Playa De La Garita is the sand-bottom beachbreak fronting the village of Arrieta on Lanzarote's north-east coast, where short, steep peaks tend to slam onto the inside more often than they peel. The better waves stand up fast and hollow over shallow sand, with a vertical takeoff and a quick performance-length wall before the close-out. It comes alive on N storm swells and E Sirocco windswells, prefers a westerly offshore, and lights up between mid and high tide when the banks pick up the swell cleanly. Sirocco days through autumn and winter are the standout windows on the island's lee coast. Access is straightforward: park along the seafront in Arrieta and walk down to the sand. The southern end of the beach holds the lighter crowds, while the main peak fills up quickly with local bodyboarders whenever it gets good. A few marginal reef nooks around the village pick up the overflow but rarely justify the effort.
