Playa del Inglés.

Playa del Inglés is a south-facing sand-bottom beachbreak sitting in front of one of Gran Canaria's busiest resort zones. The break is a seasonal proposition: it needs a significant E or SE windswell, typically 1m or more, to produce anything worth riding, and those conditions are most common in summer when Atlantic trade-wind fetch builds energy along the island's eastern flank. When it switches on, shifting A-frame peaks form along the beach with steep, medium-paced faces that suit cutbacks and open-face turns rather than barrels. The wave is well-covered rather than hollow, slopey and welling up on the better sections, with takeoffs that are easy and forgiving. Rising and high tide tends to smooth out the banks and adds wall length; low tide can produce flat spots. A NW offshore is the ideal wind, cleaning up faces and reducing onshore chop, though NE trades are the dominant wind and usually leave the surf junky. The surrounding environment is entirely urban: hotels, apartment blocks and tourist infrastructure line the beachfront.
