Telde's famous contest beachbreak with cruisey a-frame peaks and a powerful right barrel at Bunker Point on the southern end.
Playa del Hombre is the most celebrated beachbreak in the Telde municipality and a regular Grand Canaria contest venue, sitting just south of the town of the same name on Gran Canaria's eastern shore. The main peak offers slow, slopey a-frame lefts and rights that break over a sandy bottom with a well-covered, forgiving profile, making the central section a reliable option for beginners and improvers. Waves come alive on NE to E swells of 0.9m or larger, and the banks hold best from mid tide through high tide, with outgoing also workable. The standout feature is Bunker Point at the southern end, a wedgy, powerful right barrel that is sheltered from S winds and can produce legitimate tube rides when NE swell lines up clean. A westerly offshore groomes both sections. Rip currents run along the beach and require attention, particularly for inexperienced surfers. Crowds are consistently heavy year-round, with locals, groms and visiting surfers all competing for peaks.
