Bocabarranco.

Bocabarranco is a boulder-and-sand beachbreak sitting on the north coast of Gran Canaria near the town of Galdar. The break produces a-frame peaks with slopey, medium-pace walls that rarely develop into anything more than workable cutback sections. Wave faces are steep enough to generate a punchy takeoff but quickly lose power across the flat spots and well-covered bottom. The break picks up W through N swells and works best around mid tide, with a southerly wind offering clean conditions. Size range of 0.6 to 1.8m covers most usable swells; above that the beach turns chaotic. The spot is openly rated one of the worst on the island, a reputation driven almost entirely by the raw sewage discharged from outfall pipes that have been polluting the water for years. Multiple legal challenges have achieved nothing and Stormrider's environmental note is unambiguous: avoid. For anyone still committed to surfing in the area, El Agujero, La Guancha and El Frontan are all within 1.5km and offer dramatically better wave quality over the same swell window.
